Bridgestone, the world’s number one tyre and rubber manufacturer1, sweeps in a new era for grooved racing tyres with the launch of Battlax Racing R11, designed to give supersport and hypersport riders the confidence on track to slash their lap times.
With an awesome mix of Bridgestone technology cultivated at the highest level of motorcycle racing, combined with advanced new compound and construction features, R11 delivers the highest performance in the grooved racing tyre segment. And all this without compromising Bridgestone’s racing DNA on consistency.
Feel the performance
To develop R11, Bridgestone took the current Battlax Racing R10 as the benchmark and set sights on enhancing the contact feel of the track as the tyre performs, allowing the rider to attack lap time records during the race, lap after lap, in a large operating range.
Grip on braking and acceleration
The R11 package is based on a new variable mono-spiral belt (V-MSB) construction in the front tyre, which produces higher pressure on the contact patch and more cornering force. This gives the rider better grip and faster corner entry, with more contact feel, and therefore more confidence.
The rear tyre construction uses an additional GP belt (proven in the Bridgestone V02 racing slick) on top of the V-MSB which is tuned for optimal deformation. The result is a rear tyre with higher traction power, consistent performance over the tyre life and more grip in all phases.
Moving to the tread design, Bridgestone engineers first analysed the abrasion angle under acceleration and deformation in the braking and cornering phases. This enabled them to develop innovative groove positioning for R11 which provides maximum rigidity in cornering and maximum contact in the acceleration phase, while ensuring optimal deformation for improved warm up times.
Faster lap times
Track testing shows marked improvement versus predecessor in all areas, especially in the main target area of corner entry, for extra confidence. This impacted on lap times, giving R11 consistently faster laps with a 1.3% improvement on fastest lap.
The new Battlax Racing R11 is recommended for all motorcycle racing categories including SSP 300, SSP 600 and SST 1000 championship series, as well as all manufacturers’ cup events.

HTSPC - High Tensile Super Penetrated Cord
Steel cord material is comprised of individual rubber insulated inner filaments with high thermal conductivity to enhance heat transfer and reduce the risk of a blowout. Moisture does not accumulate between filaments, reducing the chance of oxidation. The features promote high-speed stability and durability of the tyre as a whole. High case rigidity (grip performance) and superior shock absorption have also been achieved by these highly tensile filaments which have a strong resistance to deformation.
MS?BELT - Mono Spiral Belt (Rear Only 140/70R17, 150/60R17, 160/60R17, 180/55R17)
Lightweight and durable cords are wrapped around the circumference of the tyre to provide a smooth grip feeling. This contributes to a high-performance tyre with weight reduction, improvement in grip improvement, rotational stability, high-speed performance and excellent damping effect.
ULTIMATEYE - ULTIMAT EYE™
Bridgestone’s proprietary tyre development technology for measuring and visualising tyre contact surface behaviour during actual riding conditions. Previously, tyre development consisted of running simulations, building prototypes and using laboratory measurements as well as actual vehicle tests to verify performance. ULTIMAT EYE™ reproduces high-speed riding conditions in the laboratory that are equivalent to those of an actual vehicle, enabling tyre contact surface behaviour to be visualised. In addition to the previous actual vehicle tests, this allows high-precision analysis and performance verification with a solid scientific basis. Using technology born to develop tyres for the world’s most demanding car and motorcycle races, the measurement and analysis equipment can handle speeds of up to 400km/h and lean angles of up to 60 degrees.

A new belt added to the conventional MS BELT. The pressure
has been equalised to the ground surface.
By enlarging the ground contact surface area, gripping performance during cornering has been improved. This also contributes to better gripping, reduction in ground contact surface area which causes slipping, and better wear control.
